Resumo


The objective of this study is to discuss the role of the woman in the family and
society through the analysis of the novel Pride and Prejudice (1813) which was
written during the Romanticism by Jane Austen. Based on a society that aims at
financial interests and arranged marriages, the woman’s main role is to long for a
comfortable life by the side of a successful husband. However, some women are
loyal to their feelings, go through the stages of the judgment and reach the peak of
the discovery of true love.
